Editorial standards
How we handle standards, product differences, security, consolidation and advertising.
1. Consolidate repetitive topics
We prefer one strong guide over many near-identical articles. Relevant old URLs are redirected to the closest replacement.
2. Check current standards status
Wi‑Fi generations and protocol specifications are grounded in current primary standards sources where practical. For example, Wi‑Fi 7 is treated as current because IEEE 802.11be-2024 is published.
3. Distinguish theory from product behavior
Router menus, radio features and ISP implementations vary. We avoid presenting one vendor's interface or marketing claim as universal networking behavior.
4. Security content stays defensive
We explain how to protect and maintain home networks, not how to defeat Wi‑Fi security or gain unauthorized access.
5. Corrections
Documentable factual corrections can be submitted through the limited contact channel.
6. Advertising independence
Advertisers do not choose our conclusions, and a displayed router or ISP ad is not an endorsement.
